The performing arts are an integral part of human culture. We dance to express ourselves, music is a way of relaxing and theatre helps us understand the world around us. It’s no surprise then that so many people want to make a career out of the performing arts. But what is the reality?
The truth is, there are lots of different ways you can make a career in the performing arts. Are you creative, or do you prefer to work behind the scenes? Do you need to be centre stage, or would you rather support others in their performance? Are you more interested in developing new work, or do you like the idea of working with tried and tested productions?
The best thing about making a career in the performing arts is that there’s something for everyone – but one thing we all have in common is a love of performance!
Park Street Performing Arts is a new type of theater company. Our performances are not scripted and our actors are everyday people. We offer workshops in acting, singing and dancing, as well as private lessons.
Our most popular class is called “Let’s Put on a Show!” where we write a musical play each month and perform it in front of an audience. Every student gets to be a lead character, and we even include students who want to help with the technical aspects like lights and sound.
This month, we have written a musical about the history of Park Street, from the time it was farmland to present day. It’s called “The Farm That Became A Street.” There are lots of fun roles for kids and adults alike.
We look forward to seeing you at one of our classes or shows!
