About ToBusk
Our Mission
ToBusk was founded with a simple yet powerful mission: to help buskers everywhere make smarter decisions, through approachable guidance and free tools that make planning a set's earnings, timing a setlist, estimating a performance's return, and optimizing the tip jar clearer, more rewarding, and more practical.
We believe that everyone who performs or dreams of performing, from first-time buskers to seasoned street performers, deserves access to accurate tools, comprehensive resources, and trustworthy guidance. Our platform bridges the gap between confusing logistics and confident, well-informed decisions about pitches and set planning, earnings and permits, setlists and tips, solo and group performance, hidden spots, and busking smart.
Through our free collection of tools, we help buskers make informed decisions about set earnings, timing a setlist, the return on performance gear, tip-jar placement, permit requirements, and reading a pitch. Every tool is designed with real-world applicability in mind, tested against the day-to-day realities of planning, permitting, and playing a set, and continuously improved based on user feedback. To go deeper, explore our Performing Arts museum, with galleries on street performance and buskers, the instruments that fill a street with sound, the stages and venues where artists meet their crowd, and the performing arts it all springs from.
Our Story
ToBusk emerged from a need we experienced firsthand. While trying to sort through conflicting advice and scattered references, we noticed a common challenge: the lack of accessible, accurate tools for the everyday decisions that come with planning a set, running the numbers on busking earnings, and making the most of every performance.
Smart busking relies heavily on curiosity and a little know-how, which are invaluable. However, a confident busker also benefits from clear answers about how a set's earnings break down, how long a setlist runs, whether new gear will pay for itself, where to place the tip jar, what permits a pitch needs, and how a spot reads. We saw an opportunity to combine well-researched busking knowledge with modern tools to help people make confident decisions about every performance.
Our team began developing tools that we wished existed when we played our first big pitches. Each calculator and guide was created to solve real problems encountered when estimating a set's takings, weighing gear, or preparing for an unfamiliar pitch. We tested every tool against real-world numbers, refined the logic based on feedback, and ensured that the results reflected current, widely accepted busking practice.
Today, ToBusk serves active users worldwide, from first-time buskers to lifelong street-performance enthusiasts. Our tools have helped people estimate earnings, time setlists, weigh gear returns, optimize tip jars, check permits, and read pitches, and make more deliberate, confident performance decisions.

Our team includes experienced buskers, performers, writers, and reviewers who bring years of combined experience to tool development. We regularly consult industry references and trusted experts to ensure our content reflects current best practices. Our content is general informational and educational content, NOT professional legal, financial, or licensing advice; results vary — busking rules, permits, and licences vary by city and country, so always confirm the current requirements with your local council or authority before performing.
