24 Hours of Artistic Expression on Sauchiehall Street

Experience the Revitalization of Glasgow’s Iconic Street

Sauchiehall Street, a staple of Glasgow’s urban landscape, is set to come alive with artistic expression as part of a 24-hour project, 24 Things to Tell You. The event, which kicks off at 1pm on Friday, April 11, will feature a diverse range of artworks and events, each one showcasing a different perspective on this iconic street.

  • A shawarma shop will transform into a vibrant street art gallery, featuring works by local artists.
  • A record store will host a live music performance, with artists playing music that reflects the street’s eclectic mix of cultures and identities.
  • The ruins of the O2 ABC will be transformed into a stunning projection artwork, celebrating the street’s rich history and heritage.

A Celebration of Sauchiehall Street’s Past, Present, and Future

The project aims to present a mix of views, combining nostalgia with future hopes for the street. Artists will use a range of mediums, including street art, performances, and installations, to showcase the street’s unique character. Some events will draw crowds for performances or celebrations, while others will be subtle, noticed only by those passing by at that moment.

  • A public procession will take place, featuring local businesses and community groups.
  • A projection artwork will be projected onto the gable end of Lauder’s Bar, celebrating Barry McCue, a projectionist at the GFT for 30 years.
  • Live piano music will be performed in tribute to the Locarno Ballroom, a legendary Glasgow institution.
