Anna Makula’s music is deeply rooted in her Christian faith, which drives her creative process. She describes herself as a singer, guitarist, producer, and daughter, all wrapped into one. “My music is based on my faith and the story that I want to tell during that season.”
Her first album, Beginnings, was a fusion of Amapiano and alternative music genres, while her most recent album, Leng, marked her first foray into writing in Luganda, making the song more relatable and impactful.

“For my most recent album Leng, I created a song skeleton, then reached out to my friend Joel Bunjo for help, as I wanted the story to resonate within the Ugandan context.”

Anna Makula’s creative process is highly influenced by her faith and her desire to tell meaningful stories through her music. She writes lyrics first and then builds the production around them, often collaborating with other writers and producers to elevate her work. “I love it [Confessions]. It was my first single, and I produced it and everything in that song was done by me except the mixing, and I love it.”

Growing up, Anna Makula was surrounded by music, having attended Word of Life International School and later studying music, psychology, and art at Uganda Christian University Medical School. “My childhood was pretty ordinary. The only thing that stood out was that everyone in my school was required to do music. We all had to take internationally accredited music exams and learn an instrument.”
Anna Makula’s parents have been instrumental in supporting her music career, encouraging her to pursue her passion despite their initial concerns. “If I had different parents, I honestly don’t know where I’d be. But my parents have been incredibly supportive. They might not always fully understand my music choices, but they’ve never made me feel insufficient or stupid.”
In her free time, Anna Makula enjoys reading books on Christian philosophy, fantasy, and apologetics, as well as watching TV shows like Gamble and Adventure Time. “I don’t really have free time, but when I used to have free time, I would read a lot. Her story is a testament to the power of music to touch hearts and minds. “My favourite Bible verse comes from the book of Revelations 7:16-17: ‘Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the centre of the throne will be their shepherd; He will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’”
Anna Makula’s music is a gift from God, and she is grateful to be living her dream. Despite the challenges and pressures of the music industry, she remains committed to her faith and her art, inspiring countless fans with her beautiful voice and remarkable guitar skills.
