Busking Tips For Magicians
I’m a full time magician, comedian, and performance artist. I’ve been a professional busker for over 10 years and I’ve learned a few things about making money from street magic over those years.
I’ll share some tips for succeeding as a magician on the street, including how to make money performing magic tricks in the streets of your city.
I’m going to assume you already know how to perform an engaging street show. If you don’t, you should probably practice that first.
You’re going to be performing a lot of shows in public spaces with people passing through. They’ll be standing in line behind you if they want to see your show and they can leave at any moment if they don’t like it. You need to be able to keep their attention throughout your entire show and keep them entertained so they stay until the end and tip.
Once you’ve got a great show, here are some tips on how to maximize your income as a busking magician:
1. Practice with real crowd reactions
The key skill for any magician is being able to read people’s reactions and adjust your performance accordingly. The best way to learn this skill is by performing for actual crowds as often as
There is no greater feeling in the world than making money from doing what you love. I started busking when I was 16 and still do it to this day. It has taken me to some amazing countries and helped me fund my studies at university.
Unfortunately, there is a lot of misinformation on the internet about how to become a street magician. So I have written this guide to set the record straight.
Please note that these tips are specifically for magicians who wish to perform magic on the streets. This form of busking is different from other arts such as music or juggling which require a different skill set and approach.
The goal of this post is to share knowledge with my fellow magicians and help them earn more money whilst having fun.
The best street performers, the ones that make the most tips, are not just the most talented. They are also the ones who work at their craft, study busking and audience psychology, and practice daily. The internet has a ton of information about how to busk and make money on the streets.
Here are some of the best busking tips for magicians I’ve found online.
– 1) Don’t be creepy.
– 2) Make it easy for people to tip you.
– 3) Play to your audience.
– 4) Find your audience’s level of sophistication.
– 5) Do something different from other street performers.
– 6) Dress well and look professional.
Busking has been a necessity for me for the last 20 years. I’ve taken it as far as I can and I’m now a full time professional magician living from busking, performing in bars and restaurants and online.
The first thing to realise is that busking is not just about making money; it’s an opportunity to gain so much experience as a performer. It’s a great way to develop your show and try out new material, developing your persona and gaining confidence in front of an audience.
I’ve put together the following guide to hopefully offer some useful advice on how best to make money whilst doing it, and also give some food for thought on the marketing side of things.
It is not the point of this article to teach you how to busk. The point of this article is to share with you some tips and ideas on how to make more money as a Busking Magician. I have been Busking for over 20 years, and throughout that time I have developed a system that makes me, on average, $2,000 per week. And I do it by just working three days a week. This is an introduction to what I will cover in later articles, but I think it is important to get straight away into the practical side of busking so you can start making money straight away!
I hope you find these tips helpful. I am always open to suggestions and ideas. If you can think of something that has worked for you that isn’t mentioned here, please mention it in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
I think busking is a great way to start a career as a magician. It is an excellent way to hone your skills in front of lay audiences, and it can be a good source of income. This week I want to give some tips on how to make the most out of busking, and how to make the most money.
I’ve been busking for over 20 years now, so I hope you’ll find these tips useful.
These tips are based on my personal experience, and are very different from other advice you may have read about in other books.
The best way to make money as a magician is to be a street performer. Think about it. With street performing, you don’t need to get gigs, wait for jobs, or beg for money from friends and relatives. You just walk up to a public place with your props and start performing.
You’ll also get paid what you are worth. The more people who see your show, the more they’ll pay. If you want to make $100/hr, all you have to do is find a busy location and put on a great show that attracts huge crowds of people.
