This blog is about our new building and how we are providing entertainment in a variety of ways. Since 1977, Main Street Performing Arts Center (MSPAC) has been fulfilling its mission to enrich, entertain and educate the community through the performing arts.
In August 2014, we purchased the former Westlake Theater and adjacent parking lot in West Des Moines, Iowa. This property will be transformed into a performing arts center with a 500-seat flexible theater, two dance studios, four art studios, rehearsal space, a large gallery for displaying art and other uses. Construction is scheduled to be complete in January 2017.
Before construction begins, we are hosting a series of events in this space to raise awareness of MSPAC. These events include Theater for Young Audiences productions for schools as well as evening performances for the community; dance recitals; art exhibits; classes and workshops; and more.

I am so excited to see this project finally coming together. We have been working on it for several years now, but we are finally prepared to open our doors in November! There are so many people involved in this process, and I would like to thank all of them.
I would also like to thank everyone who has donated money and time to make this possible. We have received donations from every business on Main Street as well as from private patrons. We even received a large grant from the state of Ohio. This building would not be possible without your generous contributions.

The center offers a wide variety of classes throughout the year so no matter when you are looking there should be something available. In addition, we have an active volunteer program that allows high school students who help with our events receive community service hours toward graduation requirements at their school!
