The idea for this blog came about because I love to listen to music but can’t really afford all of the expensive concerts out there. And yet when I’m shopping, taking public transit, or just walking down the street I sometimes get to hear free live performances. Of course there are times when I put in my earbuds and listen to my favorite songs instead of what’s going on around me–but sometimes I stop what I’m doing so that I can hear an especially good performance by a busker nearby.

Music has a way of finding us. Sometimes it seems to come out of nowhere, yet other times we know exactly where to go to hear it.
I live in a large city where buskers are a common sight. If you have never heard the term busker before, it is someone who plays music in public places for money. They are more commonly known as street performers and can be found playing in public squares, subway stations, and parks all over the world.
Often times we hear music in the distance, but we are unsure of its source or origin. This can happen when you’re walking down the sidewalk on your way to work. The sound of music can come from any direction, and sometimes it feels impossible to find out where it’s coming from.
It was this same problem that inspired me to create this website. To help people find the musical sounds that they are looking for!
I can hear music from someplace near me. It’s not coming from my stereo, and it’s not coming from the television. It is wafting in through the windows. There are no open windows, but I have a window fan going, and it is drawing air into the house, including air that is full of music.
The fan is upstairs in my bedroom, and I was downstairs on my computer when I first heard the music. I went up to check out what was going on. The window was closed, and the fan was set to draw air out of the room.

It’s coming from somewhere across a side street on the other side of my neighbor’s house. So there must be a busker performing somewhere behind him or behind some other building on that block.

If you are looking for local music, there are a few places where you can search. If you want to find someone who performs at the local fair or festival, this is a great place to start. You can also check with the entertainment department of your local library or community center. You may even be able to find someone who is in the area by checking with your local newspaper or radio station. If you live in a larger city, there may be an event or concert that is happening where people are performing on stage.
There are other places that you can look as well. Some of these include the local mall, grocery store, hardware store, and even the park near your house. Check their website for more information about where they will be performing next. It may not be listed on their site but it could be worth it to call them and ask if they have any upcoming performances in the area.
