Don’t Miss This Year’s London Street Performers

A guide to some of the performers we’re most excited about seeing this summer.

We’ve streamed a lot of amazing street performances over the years at Covent Garden Piazza, from mind-bending magic tricks to boundary-pushing acrobatics and circus acts.

This summer will be no different. The world’s best street performers (and a few new faces) will be back in Covent Garden Piazza from 1st July – 9th September, Monday to Saturday from 12pm – 8pm.

Here are five performers you won’t want to miss:

The Boy With Tape On His Face

The Boy with Tape on His Face is a silent comedian and mime artist. Using only his face and an abundance of tape, he creates hilarious physical comedy that is bound to leave you wanting more.

Do not miss your chance to see this incredible performer who has appeared on Britain’s Got Talent and Comedy Rocks with Jason Manford, as well as performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival four times!

Yes, it’s time to start looking forward to summer and the return of the street performers in Covent Garden.

We are always excited about our performers returning as it means that summer is on its way and London’s Piazza will be bustling with activity once more.

Every year we have an exciting line-up of performers who provide a free show for everyone. It is one of the best things about London and if you get the chance to spend some time in the piazza while they are performing then you will definitely enjoy it.

Our performers are known as the West End Buskers, and this year they are back from April 12th. They will be performing every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday until October 4th. There is a range of different performances throughout the day; there are also two performances each evening at 6:30pm and 7:30pm.

The first Sunday of every month sees a children’s show at 11am, while on Mondays there will be shows by young performers starting their careers at 2pm.

The crowds at Covent Garden are certainly worth seeing in their own right, but the real spectacle is provided by the street performers who make their homes there. London street performers are a talented and varied bunch, and many of them have become household names, playing concerts or even appearing in movies.

The best way to enjoy this festival of talent is to head down to the area and walk around. You’ll be able to see a range of different acts just by strolling around the square. But if you’re looking forward to seeing a specific act in particular, you can check their schedule using this guide.

Mime, magic and music. Covent Garden Piazza hosts some of the world’s finest street performers. So whether you’re after a magical dose of ‘streetomedy’ or an awe-inspiring act of mime, here are some of the performers to look out for this year:

One of the world’s premier silent clowns, Nola Rae is a one woman circus performing mind-blowing stunts, juggling and walking on stilts.

Untouchable mime virtuoso and Guinness World Record holder, The Space Cowboy is one of the fastest mouth jugglers in the world and can rotate up to 18 juggling balls at once.

Sound barrier breaker and hypnotist extraordinaire, Alexo Wandael will leave you spellbound with his range of tricks using everyday objects.

Canada’s funniest standup magician, Charlie Caper will have you laughing your socks off with his quick wit and side-splitting magic tricks.

The master of walking on air, Alex The Balloonatic is famous for his gravity defying balloon antics that have audiences gasping in amazement.

The first thing you notice about Westley Silvestri is that he has a good voice. He’s also good-looking, charming and funny – the perfect busker.

Westley is one of around 100 street performers who will be entertaining the crowds at this summer’s Covent Garden Piazza. He was born in New York and grew up in Connecticut, where music has always been part of his life. “I was in a choir when I was little,” he says. “My father sang and my mum played piano and organ, so it was very much part of family life too.”

His act consists of old classics such as My Way and Mack the Knife, but also includes some more contemporary numbers such as Lady Gaga’s Poker Face and Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream.

The 25-year-old admits that he enjoyed the recent surge of interest in busking following Susan Boyle’s appearance on Britain’s Got Talent, although he does not believe that it should be turned into a competitive event.

He also thinks that street performers should be left to their own devices: “I don’t think there should be any rules or regulations for buskers because

Covent Garden street performers have been a regular feature of the area for centuries. In fact, in the 17th and 18th century, Covent Garden was famous for its street performers.

In the early 19th century however, the area became more and more commercial which meant less space for performers. The London Transport Act in 1963 confirmed this change when it limited the performances to specific areas and times of day.

The purpose of this guide is to tell you about some of the performers and what times they will be performing.

The Covent Garden Piazza has a long history of street performers. From fire eaters to acrobats, dancers and musicians alike, it is the hub for street performances in London. Throughout the year, you can see a number of performances from local amateurs and professionals.

We have compiled a list of some of the best performers that have been spotted in Covent Garden over the last few years. This article will help you to identify some of the performers as well as what acts they are best known for.

What time do the Street Performers arrive on the Piazza?

Generally, the street performers will start around midday and continue until around 8pm. However, it is worth noting that there are often more acts during the summer months than in winter. Throughout these warmer months, there will be an average of 100 to 200 acts performing a week. With so many acts available, there is a lot to see and enjoy!
