2) Wear comfortable clothing and shoes: since your going to be dancing all day, you will want to wear comfy clothing and shoes that won’t get in the way of your moves.

Summertime is an ideal time to take your skills to the next level by participating in a hip hop workshop. The following tips will help ensure your experience is a positive one.
1. Know what you want out of the experience. Are you looking for a fun, fitness-oriented class or are you interested in honing your performance and dance skill levels? Do you want to focus on a specific style of hip hop? A good workshop will offer something for every level of dancer from beginner to advanced, but not all dancers are at the same skill level or have the same expectations for their dance experience.
2. Make sure classes are age appropriate. If you’re bringing kids, be sure to ask about age restrictions for different classes. Although hip hop is often thought of as being perfect for younger dancers, the dance style can be filled with adult themes and moves that may be inappropriate for young children.
3. Ask around. Gather recommendations from friends, other dancers, parents and teachers who have participated in similar events in the past. A little word of mouth research can go a long way in helping you find the right workshop for you or your children.
4. Check out the venue and facilities ahead of time if possible, especially if you’re traveling to participate in
As the summer days start to heat up, many dancers are looking forward to attending those hip hop workshops that have become a mainstay of the dance season. These multi-day events are often hosted by large studios and feature world-class teachers who specialize in many different styles of dance.
Most times, these workshops feature several classes from beginner to advanced levels as well as specialty classes that focus on particular techniques, performance or combinations. Workshops can last for two to three days or even longer and often include a final showcase where students get to put their new moves into action.
Before you sign up for a workshop, make sure to check the following five things that can help make your experience more successful:
1. What is the price range?
2. Who will be teaching?
3. What is their focus?
4. What do I need to bring?
5. Do I need a partner?
If you are considering a summer hip hop workshop, there are a few things to keep in mind. First of all, you need to ask yourself if you can afford it. Hip hop is becoming more and more popular and with that comes higher prices for some of the top dance studios. Secondly, what kind of dance studio do you want to attend? If you are looking for a place where you can learn about dance and the history behind it, then a small studio may not be right for you. You would be better off going somewhere that focuses on classes and learning rather than just fun. Lastly, how long will you be taking the class? Some classes last only two weeks while others last much longer.
