It’s that time of year, when everyone is travelling. And with travelling comes the first world problem of waiting for trains and buses. Sometimes we are stuck in a bus or train station for hours just waiting.
But while you’re there, waiting to get where you need to go, here’s a few ways to pass the time and have some fun… because it might be too much fun!
The video below shows a bunch of musicians playing music in the Rome metro system with instruments like drums, trumpets, trombones and more. They take over the whole train car and really light things up!
Buskers are all over the place, and they often play some pretty cool music. Here are a few others we’ve seen lately:
– Ukulele Players – This one is one of our favorite versions we’ve heard yet!
– The Rock Band – We love when we see these guys rocking out!
– The Guy With A Drum Kit – Okay, so this might not be much fun for the commuters on this subway, but it’s fun for us!
– The Guy With A Cello – This guy plays some great classical music on his cello… and he even has a bow tie to go along with it!
The subway system, with its millions of daily passengers and its miles of tunnel, is the perfect place for buskers who want to share their talents with the world. Many musicians have made names for themselves by performing in subway stations.
Some buskers perform for money, but many simply do it for fun and to get noticed by people who might be able to help them advance their careers. Some are even professional musicians who are just out having a good time.
If you’re interested in finding a talented person or two to entertain you while you wait for your train, then this article is the right one for you! Read on to learn more about where the best places are to see some great subway performers and how you can enjoy the show.
As a New Yorker, I have experienced the many different types of people and situations one encounters on the subway, including getting stuck in a crowded train during rush hour. If you’re like me, you probably spend your time staring at other passengers and trying to avoid any sort of eye contact or even worse, someone asking for money.
But instead of always avoiding interaction with an unknown person next to you, what if you could experience that interaction as fun and entertaining?
That’s exactly what these buskers do. They make our daily commutes more interesting by giving us something new to look at. And they are not afraid to get weird!
Busking is the act of performing music or other entertainment in public places for money. On the subway, it’s common to see a musician playing an instrument or two people dancing along to music. But these guys go beyond routine and do some really creative performances.
The video below shows some of the best buskers on New York City subways that were caught on tape this year. You can watch how a random passenger’s face turns into a smile after seeing a busker perform right in front of them!
I’m sure that this video will make your day brighter. I think we all need a little entertainment from time to
The crowd on the train is unbearable. It’s so crowded that you can’t even move a little bit. If you want to get off, you have to wait for at least 5 minutes before being able to squeeze yourself out of the narrow door opening. The air is not fresh either, as it is filled with sweaty body odor from people around you and the smell from their armpits.
With all these problems, it’s impossible for you to enjoy your trip in such condition. Nevertheless, there are some who always take advantage of this situation to entertain the fellow passengers (and also themselves). They are called buskers. They are here to cheer you up and make your journey less boring.
When I was in Taipei for my summer vacation last year, I took the local subway (MRT) quite often, and it was really crowded during rush hour (7am-9am, 5pm-7pm). During one of my trips, I was lucky enough to watch a guy playing Chinese flute while standing on a train that was so full that there were people standing even near the door opening. The flute player was really good and he didn’t stop until he reached his destination. He received many applause from his audience when he finished his performance.
Have you ever wondered what it’d be like to be a busker, or street performer? You know those people you see on the train who, with their guitar and hat in hand, play for money.
Well, I have. And I finally decided to try it out. I got a bunch of friends together and we headed down to the most crowded train station in Tokyo — Shinjuku Station. We didn’t have any songs prepared and none of us had any experience performing for money.
But we had fun! And we managed to get some money too.
So here are some tips from our experience, try them out next time you’re looking for something fun to do on the train!
