Street Magic is a form of magic that uses everyday objects and often takes place on the street.

Street Magicians typically perform illusions in close proximity to an audience, and may use mentalism, pickpocketing, slight-of-hand, card tricks and other forms of magic.

You could also just call them “Buskers”, which is the term used for people who perform on the street for money.

Some of the most famous Street Magician’s are Criss Angel, David Blaine and Derren Brown.

First of all, we need to understand what is meant by street magic. Street magic is the art of performing magic tricks in public places. A few examples are town squares, parks and other areas where people congregate. In the past, performing street magic was illegal in many areas until it was seen as a form of entertainment and now there are many street magicians who will perform their tricks for pay or for tips.

Street magic has been made popular by magicians like David Blaine and Criss Angel but also by famous magicians such as Houdini, Whitey Hughes and Harry Houdini. (No relation) Some of the world’s most famous street magicians come from London, England. They are known as buskers. They will often use their street magic to beg for food or money.

Other forms of street magic include conjuring tricks that involve a magician’s hat or a deck of cards which often involve levitation, card tricks and disappearing objects. Many famous magicians use sleight-of-hand techniques to perform their illusions such as moving objects through space without appearing to have done so. Other types of illusions include trapping an object inside another object and making it disappear such as with a card table or tea cup.

Street Magic Tips:

Most street magic is based on sleight of hand techniques and misdirection. The magician tries to make you focus on one thing while he does something else. The key to good misdirection is to make whatever you want your audience to ignore look unimportant.

The most amazing magic tricks in the world are worth nothing if you can’t perform them confidently. If you’re nervous, it’s obvious to your audience. They’ll be looking for the trick and they won’t enjoy the show. To give a great performance, you have to practice until the trick becomes second nature. Practice in front of a mirror or videotape yourself so you can see what your audience will see.

Another way to get over nerves is to talk as you perform. Introduce each trick by telling a joke or a story about something that happened earlier in the day that makes it relevant. Remember, no matter what happens, the audience is on your side. They want to be entertained, so don’t be afraid to speak up and inject some personality into your show!
