street magicians for real wizards. That’s what’s so beautiful about it. And while there are many different styles of street magic, they all share a few common traits. Today we’re going to talk about what makes a good magician and what makes a bad one. We’ll also talk about how you can incorporate these ideas into your own magic routine!
What makes a good magician?
It’s a question that everyone asks when they see a magician for the first time. But what does it mean to be a good magician? For some, it’s someone who never fails to impress and amaze. For others, it’s someone who can perform tricks that can’t be explained.
In this blog, we are going to take an in-depth look at the art of street magic, and try to find out what makes a good magician.
The rise of street magic
Street magic is nothing new. Magicians have always used the streets as a way to test out new tricks and wow passers-by with their skills. As the years have gone by however, street magic has evolved into something more than just a way to practise your skills – it’s become an artform in its own right.
With TV shows like Dynamo: Magician Impossible proving so popular and YouTube videos racking up millions of views, street magic has become big business for magicians all over the world.
But despite its popularity and growth in recent years, there’s still no clear definition of what street magic actually is.
It’s a Saturday afternoon and you’re walking down the street. You glance across and see a crowd surrounding a man in a suit. As you approach, you see him reach into someone’s pocket and pull out their wallet, before dropping it back in. You can’t believe your eyes! How did he do that? He must be a professional magician, right?
Wrong. The fact is, most “street magicians” you see on the street are not actually magicians at all. In fact, a lot of them aren’t even very good at what they do. What separates the good from the bad? Here are some of the key differences between bad and good street magic.
Bad street magicians are painful to watch. They are the ones who just do tricks and don’t entertain the crowd. They have no personality and have no showmanship. But the good street magicians know how to work a crowd.
The good street magicians know that you have to be a performer first and a magician second. You have to get people’s attention, hold their attention, and make them laugh. After they laugh, then they will watch your tricks.
Good street magicians can take any trick and make it entertaining. The bad street magicians take great tricks, but fail to make them entertaining because they don’t know how to present them properly.
A good street magician will practice his jokes over and over until he gets it right. He knows how long it takes for the joke to hit, when its best to pause, and when its best for him to move on with the show. As he practices his jokes, he is also practicing his sleight of hand skills at the same time.
Some of the best street magicians in the world do not even do full length shows on the street anymore because they are so famous now from TV or from their own DVD’s that they just “show up” at conventions or magic clubs and give a
I wanted to say that when I watch people do street magic, there are a few things that make a world of difference.
First, let me state that I believe it’s very difficult to do – the pressure of performing in front of crowds is hard enough, but when you’re out on the street and you’re asking for random strangers to stop and pay attention to you, it’s even harder.
A lot of people see it as an easy way to make money, but the fact is that most people who try it are not good at it. And I don’t just mean that they don’t have great skill as magicians, I mean they don’t understand what makes a street magician great.
Street magic is about being able to grab someone’s attention and get them to care about what you’re doing. That’s really the key – making someone care about what you’re doing. If they care, they’ll watch. If they don’t care, then they won’t watch and no matter how great your magic tricks are, they won’t be impressed.
So the question becomes: How do you make people care about what you’re doing?
The answer is simple: You have to be entertaining! It doesn’t matter if you’re telling a joke or
For years, I considered myself a good magician. I could perform amazing tricks that would leave people baffled. I practiced diligently every day and my show improved. I also started to read books from famous magicians and took their advice to heart. It was only when I started to perform in front of crowds that I realized something was very wrong with my magic — people were not fooled by the tricks!
One problem was that most of my tricks were card tricks. They are a staple of any magician’s repertoire, but for one reason or another, street magic with cards does not work well. A second problem was that most of my tricks were performed on the table. Street magic is all about making something happen in your hands or directly in front of you. The third problem was that most of the tricks relied on gimmicks and props.Street magic is all about making things happen before your eyes with minimal tools (or none at all). Finally, while many of the moves I performed looked great in practice, they did not look natural when applied to an actual trick.
So what makes a good street magician? There are three things: A good showman, good trick selection and a good understanding of how magic works.
I recently visited New York City and was fortunate enough to see some of the best street magicians in the world! I have traveled all over the world, and have seen some of the most amazing magic shows in Las Vegas and on Broadway. However, nothing compares to a great street performance.
What is Street Magic?
There are many different types of magic that are performed on the streets. Some performers use only cards, some only coins, some only mentalism, and some use more than one type of prop or trick. The one thing that ALL good street magicians do is capture their audience’s attention very quickly with a strong opening trick! If you cannot get your audience engaged within the first 20 seconds, you will lose them forever. They will either walk away from you or ignore you when you are trying to draw them in. Good street magicians know how to captivate a random crowd with a clever piece of magic that makes them want to stop for more. They also know how to engage their spectators so they want to get involved in the show!
What Makes A Good Street Magician?
There are many different qualities that make up a great street magician. However, here are my top three:
