Busking is becoming more popular as people move towards making a living as a travelling musician. We hope to be able to showcase many of these artists on our blog and help them get the exposure they deserve.

We love buskers because they bring joy and excitement into our lives, especially when we are stuck waiting for something or are just trying to enjoy a nice day outside. It’s incredible how music can have such an uplifting effect on people. Have you ever noticed how many people stop what they’re doing when they hear a street musician? They stop whatever they are doing and turn their heads and just listen. Even if it’s just for 30 seconds, it’s almost like they forget everything else that’s going on in their lives and just appreciate that moment in time. It’s beautiful really!

Busking is an art. It requires skill, charisma and a great deal of hard work to make it big. While the majority of street performers are content with performing for small tips, the best buskers in the world have actually become famous through their performances on the street.

In this blog we hope to detail where you can find the best street musicians in the world in each major city. We’ll also be looking at what makes a busker truly great and what separates him or her from the average performer on the street. In addition, we’re going to be exploring whether or not street performers can actually make a decent living from their craft.

I recently came across this video and thought you all might like it. It’s of a street musician in New York City (I think). He’s really good, probably one of the best street musicians in the world.

Street musicians, often called buskers, have been around since the time of the Ancient Greeks. Modern street musicians are a global phenomenon and they provide a colorful addition to any city. The best way to judge their quality is by the crowds they draw.

Here is our list of the most talented street performers in the world:

Bicycle Ballet – This performance piece (by an as yet unknown group) combines music with ballet and acrobatics performed on three bicycles. The performance was shot in an alley in Amsterdam and has since become a viral sensation on the web.

The Dorkestra – These three young men from Australia play classical music on buckets and trashcans. They have performed at festivals around the world.

Jazz Alley – This group of elderly Korean men play traditional Korean music on their instruments of choice: buckets, pans, metal tubes, lids and trashcans. They are a fixture in Seoul’s busy Gangnam district.

Street musicians and buskers have captured my imagination since I was a kid. From the old man playing violin in the subway to the guy playing electric guitar on the corner of 42nd and Broadway, I always loved watching these talented individuals play for an audience of strangers.

I love it because street musicians are like entrepreneurs. They’re putting themselves out there in front of a crowd, not knowing if they’ll be ignored or showered with money, but trying anyway. If you’re running a business, you know how that feels.

But the thing I’ve always wondered is: who are the best street performers in the world? What cities have the best talent? Where are the absolute best places to see street performers?

I have always been a big fan of buskers. I think they are some of the best musicians and performers in the world. There are so many talented people out there that travel from city to city and perform for tips. You can find them in subways, on street corners, in parks, on bridges, and even inside stores. Their music is so good that if you stop to listen for even a few seconds it is impossible not to smile or tap your foot to the beat. Many of these people are so good that they could be famous if they were discovered by record companies.

I started this blog because I wanted to share some of the videos and pictures that I have taken of buskers over the years. For me, it is all about finding those unique performances where the music, the location, and the performer come together perfectly. It’s like magic when it happens!

To start off this blog I want to share one of my favorite videos ever made – a performance by a band called “The Black Watch” at Union Square in New York City. They play traditional Scottish music mixed with modern rock/pop songs (like “Don’t Stop Believing”). It sounds weird but trust me it is awesome!
