With the next Fringe Festival just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about your costume! There are some great costume shops in town so you have no excuse to be anything but original. The shops will also be able to help you with any accessories you need.
Penguin Suit
This is a classic performer costume. If you want to attract lots of people, this is the way to go. Just remember you will need a lot of water for drinking and cooling down during the day!
Hula Girl
If you don’t like attention but still want to perform, hula girls are always popular. You can use one of their costumes or make your own out of grass skirts and coconut shells. You could add some flowers if you feel like it too!
Gladiator Costume
These are great if you want to be intimidating while performing on stage. They’re also pretty easy to make out of cardboard boxes and tape, so they’re perfect for people on a budget!
Mummy Costume
This one will take some time, but it’s worth it. You’ll need gauze bandages, white paint and glue for this look – or just buy yourself a pre-made mummy costume from one of those shops

Fringe Street Performer Costume Ideas
The Fringe is a festival of performing arts held annually in Edinburgh, Scotland. It was started in 1947 by theatre enthusiasts and has since grown to become the world’s largest arts festival. The Fringe Festival incorporates many different art forms including theatre, comedy, dance, physical theatre, musicals and opera.
The Fringe Festival is unique for its ‘open door’ policy which means that anyone can perform at this festival. This results in a variety of performers performing at the Fringe Festival. Many of these artists are unknown and many have gone on to achieve fame. Some of the most well known performers who began their career at the Fringe Festival include Rowan Atkinson, Hugh Laurie and Peter Cook.
The Fringe Festival has many different shows on display including street performances. These street performances are often creative and innovative but they do not have any costumes or props besides what they can carry with them or produce from behind their back. If you are interested in getting an idea of the latest costume ideas for a fringe street performance then this blog post will provide some ideas for you to consider.
Fringe street performers are the best part of the festival. These people perform for tips, which means they have to be good. They are the reason that I always carry extra change in my pockets. I will often see a performer and think they are just another tourist or local, but then they do something amazing, and I am reminded that this is the Fringe Festival.
It’s not just the costuming that makes these performers stand out. It’s their talent and creativity that brings me back year after year. The Fringe is all about taking risks, and I am amazed at what some of these performers are willing to try. Last year there was a unicyclist who rode around on a giant wheel while juggling three flaming pins!
The Fringe would not be complete without its street performers. The Fringe is just one big show, and I love being part of the audience!
