Would you like to know where I’ve seen the best street magic?
I’m sure you would. Perhaps you have something in common with me, and are a huge fan of magic, or maybe you are interested in street performance, or perhaps you just want to see something cool that’s happening in your city. Whatever the reason, I have put together a list of the top 10 cities for street magic.
These cities are not necessarily the best places to see street magic, but they are the best places to be a magician on the streets. The criteria I use is as follows:
How often am I able to perform?
How much money can I make at each show?
How comfortable am I when performing (weather etc…)?
How fun is it to perform there?
How easy is it to find a good spot?
How popular is street magic in that city? (ie. how much do people like it when they see it?)
Street Magic is still a relatively new concept for most people. Even in the best cities for street magic, only a small percentage of the local population really understands what it is. So what is Street Magic?
Street Magicians are not the same as your traditional magician or circus performer. Street Magic is magic that happens in the audience’s own hands and involves them directly. This makes it an exciting and interactive experience for both the spectator and the performer!
If you are looking for some fun and excitement, there are many places to find street magic around the world. Here are some tips to help you find great street magicians.
1 – The first place to look is online. There are many sites on the web dedicated to promoting street performers, and they will often list events happening all over the world, so they are a great way to find street magicians near you.
2 – Another option is to ask friends or family who live in your area if they know any local street performers. They may be able to point you in the right direction of a good magician nearby! Also try asking at work or even at school, as there may be someone who performs this type of magic regularly around where you live!
3 – If neither of these options work out then your
The value of street magic is its ability to be spontaneous. The best street magic performances are those that happen on the spot and right on the street. This can be a surprise to both the performer and performer, as well as audiences who just so happened to be walking by.
Finding the right place to perform however is not always easy. A good street magician will have a sense of what places are best for performing, but even they can make mistakes. Street magicians who are new to performing should look for these places that allow them to perform easily and effectively, as well as draw in large crowds.
1: New York City
Street magic is a type of close-up magic performed in an outdoor setting for the public.
Street magicians perform illusions such as card tricks and sleight of hand. They may also incorporate elements from other performance genres such as cabaret and juggling.
The origins of street magic are not well known. There are accounts from the 19th century that describe a form of street magic called “get rich quick” whereby an individual would produce a rabbit from a hat and then sell it to a member of the public for five dollars.
In recent years the genre has become popular with audiences due to the success of modern performers such as David Blaine, Criss Angel and Dynamo (magician).
Street magicians generally depend on income earned from spectator tips or donations. Tips left by spectators vary according to the skill and presentation of the magician, with better magicians receiving larger tips when performing in a single location.
