what’s a living statue

What is a living statue?

A living statue is a person who is painted to blend in with a piece of sculpture or architectural feature. The statue then strikes an appropriate pose and remains still for the duration of their performance. Living statues are traditionally found in high footfall areas such as city centres, festivals and events.

The purpose of this blog is to provide information about what a living statue is and to help attract potential clients and followers.

Living Statue performers are a great way of attracting a crowd at an event and creating a stunning photo opportunity.

This is a niche entertainment act that I have been performing for many years. I have worked in the UK and all over the world with some of the biggest brands on the planet.

My Living Statue Characters are very much in demand. I am often booked for events from repeat bookings from previous clients or through word of mouth recommendations.

Living statues are a very unique form of performance art, and many people aren’t even aware that it exists.

This is where we come in. We strive to educate people about the history and current practices of this unique form of street performance in the hopes that it might bring more exposure to our performers as well as helping to connect them with potential clients.

A living statue is a street performer who poses like a statue or mannequin, usually with realistic statue-like makeup, sometimes for hours at a time. They are popular in tourist areas. Their performances are generally done in complete silence, and depend on motionless stillness. When they receive money as alms, they will break character in some way to thank the donor.

Living statues may be regarded as a form of street art or busking and may be considered “low art” by some performers.[1] However, living statues can also be found working their trade at high class events that call for unusual entertainment such as festivals, corporate functions and many other forms of high profile events.[2][3] Living statues have become popular at shopping malls[4] for the same reason that they are often found outside museums: their presence is thought to attract attention from passersby who will then pay more attention to the mall’s shops and displays.

Living statues are a great addition to any event, as they can transform a venue into a work of art. They are also a popular form of street performance.

Living statues help to create atmosphere and are often used in conjunction with other types of performer such as fire performers and acrobats.

The term living statue refers to a performer who is painted head to toe in silver or gold paint. A professional performer will often have trained in mime, dance or circus skills and will use these in their act. In addition to their movement skills, the artist will have developed their ability to remain still for long periods of time, use their body language to communicate emotions and create the illusion that they are made of stone or metal.

Living Statue Performers

Good morning sunshine. The Earth says hello.

A performance art where an artist poses as a statue for the purpose of entertainment. Living statues are often costumed, and static in their posing, but may occasionally move to interact with the public. Other terms used to describe this form of art include “living statue act”, “still performer” and “statue-gram”.

The act can be performed by both male and female artists as well as young children. Some living statues are painted rather than clothed, but most wear head-to-ankle costumes (often in bronze or gold tones) that blend in with their surroundings. The act usually features background music or ambient sound effects and is quite popular at festivals, carnivals and other venues such as shopping centres.

To create a sense of realism, the artist will remain completely still for long periods of time; some performers have been known to hold poses for over 10 hours at a time! When people are brave enough to interact with the living statue, they are often surprised when the statue suddenly comes to life!

Living statues are an art form that has been around for centuries.

They are usually performers who have painted themselves, or wear a costume that makes them look like a statue, and then stand very, very still in a public place.

Most living statues will change position every few minutes. Some will hold one pose for hours on end. All of them will do something at least once during their performance (whether it is to move, or blink, or something else) that makes the crowd go “wow!”.
